Background

Establishment of Pars Geology was proposed to Research Directorate, Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT), Government of Islamic Republic of Iran, as a “Research Group” by Mansour Ghorbani, Ph.D., in March 2002. The Development Committee of MSRT endorsed its temporary approval for the institution of the Group, pending the final authorization until further assessments. Within a year, following evaluation of the scientific potentials of the Group, and taking into consideration the quality and quantity of completed projects by the Group, Pars Geology was promoted to the status of “Research Center” by Research Directorate, MSRT.
